"Journey" is the first book of poetry by Pete Yamamoto. It is a chronologically compiled book of his recent poetic efforts. Pete Yamamoto is a mixed race Japanese American who writes from a personal perspective that he hopes illuminates the life experience of us all. He tries to combine the individual with the broad picture, and thus make commentary of human society as a whole. Pete's aim is to portray the basic humanity of the people around us. He tries always to combine the universal with the specific and make that connection. It is the warmth and frailty, yet strength and ability to solve problems, of the average person, that drives his writing.
